A couple of years ago, I started writing for a monthly publication called
NITETIMES Magazine. You can pick it up in clubs around the Twin Cities. I really enjoyed writing these columns and the response I received from musicians and music goers was positive. Jon Otten and Dav Kaufman from Crotalus Publishing read the columns too. They liked them and they asked me to write a book about the Twin Cities music scene. The result was
THE LONG RIDE HOME ( A Life in the Minnesota Music Scene)
The book is part autobiographical and commentary about my experiences being a singer and a working player in the Twin Cities. It's been a great job and I love what I do.
I'm pleased to say that I've received a lot of favorable response from the book from people who've read it. I hope you can pick it up. These are the locations you can purchase the book:

Hi Mick:
I'm sure you don't remember me but my name is Renae and I bought your book Friday in Stillwater. I just finished reading your story and I wanted to share a few thoughts.
I have enjoyed your music very much since I first heard you years ago at a Heart & Soul Festival. Not only do you have a great voice but your stage presence is very captivating. I could always feel and see how much you enjoyed performing.
One thing I have always respected about you is how you react and treat your female fans. I have witnessed the way you humor them yet stand firm without insulting or humiliating them. This is very admirable to see in a performer. I am sorry to babble on here.
My reason for writing was to share with you the emotions I could feel coming from the pages of your book regarding your wife and children. The love, respect, joy and the pure "awe" you feel for your family was so strong it grabbed my heart. It was like looking through a window into your soul.
You are right in saying you are a lucky man, to love so deeply is a gift and to feel loved and accepted as you feel from them is a gift also. I married my soul mate fourteen years ago and lost him three years ago to cancer. I am so thankful for the time we shared.
You are a man who should be respected as a great performer, but more importantly as a husband and father. Enjoy your gifts of love.
